Russia has seen a mass reorganisation of its forces in Ukraine since the Wagner rebellion in June, as huge numbers of mercenaries left their positions on the frontlines, forcing Russian officials to pull troops from other deployments across the globe to cover the stretched lines. These changes mean that the population are more compelled to fight, according to the MoD, and this, coupled with recent drone attacks, the Wagner rebellion and domestic repression, only highlights "the Russian state's failure to insulate the population from the war".
